This historical exhibit held at the Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin between November 2009 and April 2010 showed the works of Johann Moritz Rugendas, Eduard Hildebrandt and Ferdinand Bellermann, three 19th century German painters who followed in the footsteps of Alexander von Humboldt. The “Diarios Venezolanos 1842-1845” of Bellermann’s time in Venezuela, published by the Galería de Arte Nacional in Venezuela in 2007, were a prime source for retracing the painter’s steps. Sofia Vollmer de Maduro was a member of the editorial committee and the publication counted with the sponsorship of the Alberto Vollmer Foundation, among others.
